Events & Activities
SUMMER
The Trail of Two Cities 0.5K Micro Marathon is one of, and arguably the silliest of, the many fun summer activities and events in Gladwin County. Other events include Art Shows, County Fair, Street Fair, ORV Fun Fest, Outdoor Theatre, Outdoor Concerts in the Park, Fun Runs, Fireworks, and more. Something is always happening in Michigan’s Backyard.
0.5K Micro Marathon
For those not ready for a full marathon, try the Trail of Two Cities 0.5K Micro Marathon (yep, you read that right, this is not a typo, it is a half kilometer event or approximately 1,640 feet – less then the length of 5 ½ football fields). This fun activity begins behind Gladwin City Hall and goes down a very short section of The Trail of Two Cities ending at Riverwalk Place. Stop for a respite (we aren’t kidding) halfway through this excruciating race (we are kidding) for water and doughnuts.
ORV Fun Fest
A fun-filled day of 70+ miles of ORV riding along with a mud course. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a full day of prizes, food, and fun. Register on our ORV Fun Fest Event on our calendar.

WINTER
Michigan’s Backyard is your winter playground. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hunting, ice skating (indoors and outdoors), ice fishing, and a variety of events make Gladwin County the place to go to play each winter. From antique snowmobile races to ice fishing competitions, there are a number of challenges. Each winter also brings a number of indoor events for those who are looking for warmer activities. Watch our Events page for upcoming activities during your visit to Michigan’s Backyard.
